Elementary Homework Guidelines and Procedures
Our district believes that homework is important! Doing homework assignments routinely, thoroughly, and accurately is one of the best ways to ensure a students success in class.
We believe that homework supports the building of independence and self-reliance in our students as they learn to improve life long study habits. It also provides students with the opportunity and experience of learning HOW to learn.
Types of Homework
Completion – anything not completed during the school day
Practice – review and reinforcement of skills presented in class
Preparation – individual preparation for the next days activities
Extension – taking skills learned in the classroom and expanding on them at home
*Amount of Homework

*Though there are many variables impacting the length of homework assignments the following ranges are given for each grade level. Note that these are for an “average” student.
